Gossamer-winged Butterfly on the Fingertips-

Gossamer-winged Butterfly on the Fingertips

It's late spring. I took my students to the oudiv>

As it's hard for little school kids to just listen to instructions but not touch anything, and it's hard for me to get such a precious moment for some life education, I swabbed some sweat on my nose with my index finger and lured some Gossamer-winged Butterflies (family Lycaenidae ) to it.

“Look! Besides our urine, our sweat could attract butterflies, too!” Watching these grey little things on their fingers, the usually restless kids simply quieted down for fear that the butterflies would be scared away.

I also had the kids play a cool game: making the butterfly move from one's finger to another's. From the cautiousness shown by each kid, I knew this nature observation trip was successful, and truly hoped that this interaction with the butterflies would imprint on their memory forever.
