This prologue officially opens the film Driving the Pulse of Life—Journey on the Southern Cross-Island Highway in Yushan.

The plot is unfolded through YANG, a novice conservation ranger who used to be a Cyr wheel performer. He guides the audience across the green mountains and blue rivers in the southern part of the Yushan National Park, to learn about the long history of its indigenous inhabitants. In the process of becoming more familiar with the environment, he slowly resolves his doubts about which path to follow in life, regaining the courage to move forward.

The soundtrack is also well worth mentioning. The production team hoped that even without the plot, people could still enjoy the embrace of nature, and the ethereal, light music creates an immersive sensory experience.

Director Chen Chin-Fa, commissioned by the Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters, spent three years filming Image of Guanwu. It is a fusion of art and music, which elevates the original scientific knowledge-based nature documentary to a new level.

"Clouds, fog, rain, and water" are the main themes of the film, which incorporates the changing seasons and species in the Guanwu area. The scenes are accompanied by matching music and incorporate the creator's touch to create the mood of "poetry within painting and painting within poetry".

The director shared that, while filming, he carefully observed the dynamics of things happening around him and put together words and music in his mind, such as the Four Seasons concerti by Vivaldi and Piano Concerto No. 1 by Brahms, with the intention of transforming the beauty of Guanwu into a tangible visual and auditory feast. In the process of viewing the film, the audience would not only appreciate the magnificent beauty of the earth, but also the surging life force of nature.

In addition to capturing the diverse ecological landscapes of the Guanwu area, the film also features three clips of people-related activities, namely, volunteers' dedication to hand-building a trail, indigenous people's faithfulness to their ancestors' advice, and the thoughts stemming from stargazing and nighttime observation. These are beautiful human-nature interactions that the film also wants to transmit to the audience.
