During an oral history investigation commissioned by the Yangmingshan National Park Headquarters, it was discovered that the local area contains many valuable memories. Over the years, the headquarters has gradually restored patrol routes from the past era through data accumulated. In order to help the public better understand the historical significance of Zhongxing Guesthouse and safely experience the natural environment, an opportunity to develop this reality game eventually took form.

The background story of Patrollers is set in the tumultuous 1970s when a series of major events occurred on the world stage. Players would assume the role of soldiers stationed at Zhongxing Guesthouse and are tasked with delivering gifts from allied nations.

Yangmingshuwu was formerly known as Zhongxing Guesthouse. It was where President Chiang Kai-shek received important foreign guests. Nowadays, it is managed by the Yangmingshan National Park Headquarters. The patrol trails in the vicinity used to be guarded by military personnel. The area was previously a military-controlled area.

Its military history is rarely known. In addition, the rich biodiversity of the area has experienced minimal disturbance by human activities. As such, the area manages to preserve the natural beauty and some parts of the pristine forest, making it an intriguing destination for players to explore.

The game consists of seven levels, with an average playtime of two to three hours. It is fun as much as it is challenging, allowing players to explore and get to know the local landscape, while clearing the game. For safety purposes, Yangmingshuwu provides hiking equipment such as hiking poles, flashlights, and waist packs, as well as a few military accessories. Instead, they should wear long sleeves and pants to prevent themselves from insect bites. Additionally, the game requires players to enable the GPS on their smartphones and a stable mobile network to trigger game events.
