The first Chinese-English publication on Taiwan landscapes, "Taiwan's National Parks" also seeks to spread the concept of nature conservation.
Taiwan, once called "Formosa," has unique geographic and ecological resources. In 1982, the Ministry of Interior established six national parks: Kenting, Yushan, Yangmingshan, Taroko, Shei-pa and Kinmen. Dungsha atoll is about to be completed and will be the 7th national park. The parks were established to conserve Taiwan's forests, wild life and historical artifacts.
Picture shows Lee Wu-hsiung, director general of Construction and Planning Agency, Ministry of the Interior, introducing the pictorial at a news conference.
