One year after the April 3 earthquake, Taroko National Park Headquarters released a documentary titled "On the Way Home, Taroko," reviewing the earthquake scenes and the restoration process over the past year.
The film interviews people from Dali and Datong villages, Taroko Village Hotel staff, and Headquarters personnel, who share their experiences about the earthquake, rescue, and reconstruction, while revealing the challenges posed by continuous aftershocks, heavy rain, and typhoons to restoration work. At the same time, the film presents restoration actions and healing efforts, such as seed ball slope restoration, concerts, and tribal tourism activities, and invites geology expert Professor Chen, Wen-Shan to analyze Taroko's geology and earthquake causes, teaching us how to coexist with earthquakes.
The Headquarters is also actively promoting low-carbon tourism, markets, and science education to foster local revitalization and sustainable development. The 22-minute film was produced by director Mai, Jue-Ming's team, offering both Chinese and English versions, with more episodes planned to continue documenting post-disaster reconstruction and the profound connection between people and the land.
