The Dawn with Yangming’s Flowers

Yangmingshan National Park, which is surrounded by mountains, is enveloped in the moisture from the northeasterly wind. Looking up, grayness is all that is seen. The depth of winter slowly wanes, yet still lingers, unwilling to leave. Spring can’t wait to take the stage. The fog hides and rolls about in the mountain areas, wrapping itself around the mountains, holding onto its last chance to perform before the curtain call.

All of the different flowers await anxiously for their time in the spotlight. In the midst of drizzle and fog, warmth can only visit sporadically, which only whets local appetites. Between the mountains and plains, the scattered Prunus campanulata stands gracefully amidst of smoke and fog. Whether dark or light red, they seem like beauties that are shy and timid, attracting everyone’s attention.

The sunny weather long since longed for arrives; the white clouds that are luxuriant, yet well-spaced appear; the crystal-clear vistas reveal themselves; and the grassland finally remembers its forgotten green. Hundreds of flowers blossom, Rhododendron oldhamii Maxim, Rhododendron ellipticum , Rhododendron hyperythrum , Rhododendron spp , and Rhododendron longiperulatum as if they were in a painting. The buds of Machilus thunbergii , Machilus kusanoi hayata, and Ficus erecta start sprouting and the light green leaves of camphor and Liquidambar formosana outstretch their arms.

It’s genuinely hard to determine whether the sight of flowers in bloom from this year surpasses or only equaled that of last year’s.
