There is a documentary entitled “The Cove” that won the 2010 Best Documentary Academy Award. Do you know what the film is about?

The film describes the mass killing of around 23,000 dolphins in a hidden cove in Japan each year. It reveals such cruelty and hopes to raise concerns about the protection of dolphins. It's definitely worth a watch.

Speaking of it, I feel that there has been a gradual increase in people’s awareness in marine conservation.
Has Taiwan made any similar progress in this regard?

Absolutely. Take Kenting National Park for example, many sea areas around Kenting have been incorporated as part of the national park. Because of this, the marine ecosystem can be effectively preserved. Besides, the staff and the police have to patrol the park in the middle of the night to clamp down on illegal fishing.

This is indeed impressing. But in addition to the park staff and the police, I feel that everyone should shoulder the responsibility of protecting the ocean, so as to develop the oceanic culture in a sustainable, rather than a depleting manner that Asians are notorious for.

That's quite true. Everyone can do his or her part to preserve the ocean. For example, when we go to Kenting, we should keep the beaches clean, never exploit the ocean resources and dispose of trash in the ocean.

Indeed, there are many more ways to make a difference!
