最近我身邊有許多朋友都開始投入志工的行列，他們都說當志工帶給他們高度的成就感與滿足，也認識了許多志同道合的好朋友。

沒錯，在國外，擔任志工幾乎已經是全民運動，而近幾年來在台灣，越來越多人也開始加入志工的行列。擔任志工確實非常有意義，你可以依照自己的興趣和所關注的議題、對象或特定領域，選擇適合自己的志工活動。

Some of my friends have started to become volunteers. They said that being a volunteer gives them a lot of sense of achievement and accomplishment. They also said that they have made a lot of like-minded friends as a result.

That's true. In other countries, volunteering has become something that's welcomed by all. And in the recent years in Taiwan, more and more people are jumping on the bandwagon. Volunteering is indeed meaningful, and you can choose one that suits your particular interests, concerns and fields.

嗯，我喜歡融入人群，另一方面，我也十分重視環境保育和生態保育。你覺得我比較適合參加哪一類的志工活動呢？

我知道了。台灣的國家公園很需要像你這樣的志工，來保護園區內重要文化資產和進行生態保育，這些國家公園志工在與遊客分享園區內美麗景緻的同時，也傳遞保育理念。

Well, I am a people person, and I’m also quite concerned about environmental protection and ecological conservation. What type of volunteers do you think might be suitable for me?

I got it. National parks in Taiwan need volunteers like you to preserve the natural and cultural resources within the parks. At the same while as the volunteers in parks (VIPs) share with the beautiful scenery with the park visitors, they can also convey their ideas for conservation.

嗯，聽起來確實很吸引我。能和國家公園的遊客面對面接觸，一起分享美好的自然，一定會是一項難能可貴的學習經驗。

沒錯，而且國家公園的志工活動也可以進一步細分為許多不同的工作內容，例如像是遊客服務、文化資產和自然科學研究工作、生態資源經營管理，以及設施維護工作等等，因此具備不同才能和專業知識的人們，也都可以找到適合自己的工作內容。

Umm, that does sound interesting. I believe that a face-to-face interaction with the park visitors and sharing with them the beauty of Mother Nature will turn out to be an invaluable learning experience.

That's for sure. Besides, volunteering in national parks can be further divided into a wide variety of fields, such as visitor service, research in history, archaeology, and natural science, resource management, and maintenance. So people with special skills or talents can easily find something for them.
